Hollywood Leaks, a hacking group that sprung up seemingly overnight to bedevil the entertainment industry and celebrities in particular, has scored another victim. On Sunday (Sept. 4), Britain's Daily Star Sunday reported that the group hacked into Scottish actor Gerard Butler's gmail account, releasing his private information on the web.
Butler is only the latest in a string of celebrities to find themselves at the mercy of the group. Miley Cyrus and Ashley Greene also had personal e-mail details posted to the web. Both rapper Kreayshawn and singer/actress Julianne Hough were surprised to find the group had posted private -- and somewhat risque -- photos of them online.
Hollywood Leaks, as was amply explained in an earlier post, claims to be an offshoot of the cyberhacking group Anonymous -- but with a narrowed focus.
On Saturday, the group left a new message on the web, warning of attacks yet to come.
"Attention Hollywood," says a computerized voice. "Unfortunately for you this is just the beginning, the lols (laugh out loud) will keep rolling and the leaks will keep coming. "Our targets are as numerous as the sands of time. This is for you, for the people."
